Films for installation and operation
Here you find films explaining the installation and operation of iFotoalbum. A recent version of Apple's Quicktime is required and you'll find it here.

Film #1: Installation | click here
This film explains the required steps from the first installation of iFotoalbum. At first the archive is decompressed. The file is a .zip file, which can be decompressed on almost every computer system. Then the folder iFotoalbum is opened and the installer double-clicked. This installer opens a terminal window and installs, after you entered your root password, all necessary items of iFotoalbum into your webserver folder. If the necessary diretories don't exist, the installer creates them. All files have already the required (user) rights.
Film #2: Change config of webserver | click here
This film shows how httpd.conf has to be modified in order to run iFotoalbum on your Macintosh. The first step is to type "sudo pico /etc/httpd/httpd.conf" into an empty terminal window. Enter your administration password if prompted. After you confirmed your entry, pico starts and shows the "httpd.conf" file. Now press CTRL + w and enter "scriptalias" and confirm. Some lines below (press cursor down) appears the first line to be edited (see film) and some lines below again the next one. Changes are saved by pressing CTRL + o and pico is closed by CTRL + x. (Always confirm with "enter" after a CTRL command.) Now restart your webserver with "sudo apachectl graceful". I am going to explain the next steps of setting up your iFotoalbum in the third chapter.
Film #3: First settings | click here
This film shows you which settings can and must be done before using iFotoalbum. At first you have to determine the name and password of the main user. (Do not forget!) Afterwards he can log in into his VIP area make the actual settings. These are for instance language settings, network settings for WAN mode every iFotoalbum can be listed on our iN-MEDiA server , global copyright settings, and so on... The remaining things are shown in the film.
Film #4: Importing pictures from iPhoto into iFotoalbum | click here
This one shows you how to export pictures from iPhoto in order that you and other people can access them via the Internet. Please start iPhoto and import any pictures you may want to. Then select the pictures you want to export and export them by using the export function of iPhoto into the iFotoalbum folder "/Library/WebServer/Documents/iFotoalbum". How this is done in detail is shown by this film.
Film #5: Enter and edit picture descriptions | click here
This one explains how you edit and add picture description, enable or disable EXIF information and how a copyright remark affects towards a edited picture. The difference between global and individual copyright is also explained. Nevertheless a movie tells more than a couple of words.
Film #6: How to allocate an album to a visitor | click here
iFotoalbum has the possibility to allocate a public album to a specific user and thus hide it from the public. Just log on as the main user / admininstrator and return to the album overview. Now you can see lock up symbols near the names of the albums. Click onto such a symbol and a selection menu appears. Please choose a user now. Once the selected user logs on and returns to the overview, he sees the name of the selected album in red. Every other user is unable to see that album. To undo this just follow the same steps.
Film #7: How guests create their own albums for their bookmarks | click here
A big advantage of iFotoalbum is to let every user register and bookmark his favorite pictures simply by clicking. Bookmarks can be compiled to own private collections. How this works is shown in this film.
